    Why not glue the scales on, complete the profiling (not contouring) and then just drill through both scales and tang, then pin through?

    • @SavageCustomCreative
      @SavageCustomCreative Месяц назад

      You can do that, however I find it a little easier and cleaner to profile a little before glueing onto the blade and its also easier to verify that you've clamped the scaled down securely to the blade

    a great show, good to get hand skills visible, and can't wait for next season, keep them coming guys, one thing, in the "off season", how about some how to videos explaining the blacksmithing trade, how to make blades, forks, etc. PS: you Don't have to always follow the USA model, and make weapons alone, showing us "LEGAL" items like cutlery, fire tools, etc. is also good, as it is something the beginner CAN make themselves.

    I’d be keen to see some tougher abuse on the “destructive” testing. I know your trying to make your own take on the more mainstream television series and have addressed some of the shortcomings of that series quite well, but I’m not quite sure a gentle slice on some leather and carpet really showcase the heat treatment. Still, I am quite happy to watch this series and the more inclusive nature of judging and contestant interactions is pleasing to see.

  • @andyvan5692
    @andyvan5692 3 месяца назад

    at 21:40 the blueing of metal is a technique machinists use to, to let us know where the grinder or tool is cutting, so we know how much metal is being removed, and if it is removed evenly on a long surface.( as a marking out tool, like pencil on wood)

    great show, but for the start a safety point, NEVER use a gas torch or fuelled lighter to fire up a burner!, the gas could flash back into the lighter and blow the fuel tank!, why oxy welders use flint style igniters; but here put some kindling on a stick and put inside the furnace, a lot safer for you, and the cameraman behind filming you 🙂

    love this series, the judges are amazing, the scoring system is really thought through, altough it sometimes feels a bit biased towards some contestants, the strength tests are reasonable. this show is basically what forged in fire should/could have been

    I'm really enjoying the show. It's a nice alternative to the "other" bladesmithing show (which I watch loyally). I have one small observation: The audience never gets to hear the sounds of the craft because of the music. It would be nice if we could hear the hammer striking the anvil, or the grinder tearing away the steel, but the music is always drowning out those sounds.

I really think mic-ing the judges would really help us get to enjoy the commentary and information that they’re giving us!
